With the Craft series, I am trying to evoke different environments and spacial concepts, not necessarily objects in space. These environments are kinetic in nature and therefore my drawing technique tends to not rely on a set agenda. In other words, when I start a drawing the outcome is not a planned one, but one that comes organically. What governs the outcome are the interplay of shapes, solids, and voids. This process of identifying solids and voids is a process that is used in architectural design.
With the Bot series, I am creating characters so by nature they are objects in space but the drawing process is the same, an interplay of shapes, solids, and voids.
The COLLISIONS series is meant to show two colliding forces or entities. They try to further the investigation of solid vs. void and push vs. pull. All these investigations are made possible with competing geometries. Some COLLISIONS are very aggressive, some are very kinetic, some are round, and some are straight.......but all of them convey interesting, other-worldly conditions.
I am heavily influenced by the work of Archigram, Daniel Libeskind (architecture and Micromega series), Lebbeus Woods, Takashi Murakami, David Choe and Expressionist Architecture to name a few.
